去年の１１月にちょっと触れた新しいプロジェクトについて、お話いしようと思います。

アムステルダムに住むアーティストの友人スザンヌ・ノリスさんと
交換日記プロジェクトを始めたら面白いんじゃないか・・と閃いたのは去年の２月。
I had an inspiration on February in 2013 that it would be fun if I could start “the exchange picture (illustrated) diary” with my friend artist Suzanne Norris Who lives in Amsterdam.

その時私の脳内に浮かんだ素材は以前から気に入っていたMUJIのクラフト紙でできたダブルリング帳。
そして運命の流れか去年夏にアムステルダムに立ち寄れることになりMUJIノート持参で
温めていたアイディアを話してみました。彼女には事前にメールでこの閃きについて
話していて、乗り気でいてくれましたがお互いの意見を交換するには実際に会って話すのが一番。
果たしてスザンヌも「とても楽しそう」と乗り気になってくれて、MUJIノートのサイズや
素材感も気に入ってくれて、オランダからスザンヌが東京からは私がそれぞれ１冊持って、
二冊で交換絵日記プロジェクトはスタートすることになりました。
We could meet in Amsterdam last August.
I suggested about my plan (to exchange a notebook painted or illustrated a picture of each other)
a few months ago by e-mail, and she got interested in my idea at that time.
We had a meeting our new project at a balmy summer night in Amsterdam.
It was a really pleasant night.
We decided to start our project with MUJI notebook, because its kraft paper’s texture, color and size were convenient and perfect, and to exchange two notebooks. So I put a MUJI notebook into her hands, and I prepared another new one.

私からの提案は「ノー・ルール、ノー・プレッシャー」決まり事はなし、プレッシャーもなし。
何を描いてもいいし、どんな素材をつかってもいい、ページをはみ出してもなんでもいい。
仕事が忙しかったら何ヶ月も放置しても問題なし。とにかく「お互いにとってプレッシャーなく楽しくやりましょう。」
ということ。そしてこの提案を彼女も大いに気にってくれました。
１ページに絵を描いたら封筒にいれてあとは普通便で送ります。
あとは「ちゃんと届きますように」とお祈りして。

I told her about my rules’ for the project that namely “No Pressure. No Rules”.
And Suzanne loved it.
We can draw any things, use any materials and even if it runs off the edge…
any way “No Rules”!
We put notebook into an envelope and send by ordinary mail after finishing up the art work.
After that we wish it arrive safely.

「ノー・ルール、ノー・プレッシャー」の通りゆるやかにプロジェクトはスタートしてます。
毎回届いたノートを手にとって開く時はものすごく楽しみで興奮します。
自分が描いたちょっとしたイタズラ書きにスザンヌが新しい絵を描き足していたり、
彼女のページに私が絵を描き加えたり、随所にコラボレーションが起きてて相手が描く絵を見る
楽しみと更に何か起きてる？という楽しみも加わって、最初に想像した「こうなったらいいな」が実現化されてます。
まだ始まったばかりのプロジェクトだけれど、ノートいっぱいに絵が溢れる日を楽しみに
続けてゆきます。そしてスザンヌと私それぞれでノートの内容についても随時ブログで
レポートしてゆきたいと思います。
When I receive and open the notebook from Suzanne, it makes my heart skip a beat always.
What art work did she create (draw, paint or collage,…) this time?
Did she add something to my illustration? and so on.
We will report our process of this project each other.
