オランダ在住のアーティスト、スザンヌ・ノリスさんとのMUJIノート交換日記
プロジェクトの8回目のレポート、part2です。
The 8th report PART2, Amsterdam↔Tokyo notebook project with my artist friend Suzanne Norrise living in Amsterdam.

part1に引き続き、私のページpart2をアップします。
I will introduce my page in part 2 this time.

スザンヌと私は二冊のノートを交換しています。
締め切りもルールもないのでそれぞれが好きな時に好きなものを描いて送っています。

Suzanne and I are exchanging 2 sketchbooks.
We create anything we like on our each at any time, because there is “No Rule” and “No Pressure”.

スザンヌは昨年11月に大切な家族である猫Giraを亡くしました。Giraはロシアンブルーの美しい猫で、凛々しくてハンサム。実際はスザンヌを見守るナイトだったけど、凛としたその姿はまるで王様のようでした。
そのニュースを聞いた時、スザンヌの悲しみが痛いほど感じられてどう言葉をかけていいか分かりませんでした。

Suzanne has lost her dear cat Gira last November. He was a Russian blue beautiful handsome cat, and always dignified. Actually, Gira was a knight protecting Suzanne though, he looked like a elegant King. When I heard that sad news, I didn’t know what to say to her because I understood it’s a deep sorrow and pain which I couldn’t imagine how hard it was for her.

私は２人の姿を絵日記のページに描きたいなと思いました。でもすぐじゃない方が良いなとも思いました。
多忙だったこともあり、5月に入り下絵をノートに写しました。

I felt that I want to draw about Gira and Suzanne on next my page. But I also felt I shouldn’t do it soon. After that I’ve been busy for a while, so I transferred outline sketch on the notebook in earlier May.

すぐに取り掛かる予定が、私の事情で突然しばらくの間、私自身の絵関係の仕事が全くできない状況になってしまいました。
そんな日々の中、スザンヌが新しい猫の家族を迎えた事を知ったのです。
Giraの生まれ変わりのような美しい子猫Graysonでした。すぐ様、私はノートに写した下絵のページに子猫を加えました。

However, suddenly I couldn’t do any my own work for my own issues about for 2 and a half month.
On of these days, I knew that Suzanne had a new sweet kitten for her family.
He is a beautiful kitten, Grayson as if Gira was born again.
Immediately, I added to draw this lovely cat in traced outline on my page.

７月に入って漸くノートに取りかかる時間ができました。スザンヌと２匹の猫の下絵をみて、全てのピースが揃ったようなそんな感覚になりました。
５月に取り掛かっていたら加えられなかったGrayson。
私の方の事情があったとはいえ、「Graysonも一緒に描いて」とGiraが思ってたのではないかなと感じてしまいました。

in early July, finally I was able to have the time to go on notebook project. When I saw Suzanne and 2 her cats, I felt that this is the perfect shape for this painting.
If I was able to start in May, I couldn’t add Grayson….
I know it was my family reasons but at the same time, I feel that maybe…Gira hoped to draw Grayson on this page together.

スザンヌを見守り続けるGira、抱きつくスザンヌ。そして足元には安心して眠る幼いGrayson。
ずっと一緒の3人。
今回はそんなページになりました。

Gira is warmly protecting Suzanne as a guardian angel forever, Suzanne is hugging him, and Grayson is sleeping in peace under Suzanne’s feet. The Three are together eternally.
My page was complete like this.

前のページはスザンヌが描いた森を見守る大フクロウ。私は同じ星空を描き加えました。そしてこのフクロウ、私のページでもみんなを見守っています。左の端で、でもちょっと姿を変えてね。半分猫で半分フクロウです。

Suzanne painted a big mother owl who is watching out for forest safety on her previous page, and I added to paint on it same starry sky with my page. She is also witching everybody in my page, at edge of lower left, but she changes her shape a little. It’s a half owl and a half cat.

2ページ前の私のページに遡りましょう。右の端、木のうろの中の青い森に１匹の子猫がいます。振り向きながら不安そうに歩いています。
Let’s go 2 page back. it’s my page. Can you see a hollow tree on the right of the picture image?
I added a tiny blue kitten there. He looks back worriedly the way he came,

次のスザンヌのページのフクロウの瞳には前を向いて歩いてゆく子猫が写っています。
もう不安じゃありません。行き先は決まったのです。
and at next page Suzanne painted, we can see a tiny kitten reflected in the eye of the Mother owl.
He looks where he is going. He never feel uneasy, because he knows his destination!

＜そしてスザンヌのフクロウの前を抜けて前へ前へ　and he passes before Suzanne’s owl eyes…keep going!＞

そしていまはスザンヌの足元で安心して眠っています。
今回、とても取り掛かるのに時間がかかってしまいましたが、きっとこのタイミングが良かったのだと思います。
And now, he is sleeping peacefully at Suzanne’s feet.
It takes a while to get to work this time. I’d like to believe that maybe this is better timing.

The 8th report PART1, Amsterdam↔Tokyo notebook project with my artist friend Suzanne Norrise living in Netherlands.
Part 1はスザンヌから届いたページです。
I’ll start Suzanne’s page as the part 1.

私は前のページに空から村に雪が舞う風景を描きました。
そこに降った雪まるでミルクのようにミルクラウンを作りました。

I painted the scenery which snow is falling on the village.
Falling snow makes milk crowns as if it’s milk.

スザンヌのページを開いて行くと、見えて来たのは・・・
地上のミルククラウンでした。まるで私が描いたのかな・・と思うほどそっくりに描かれていてびっくり！
雪の下では新しい命の息吹が春を待っています。

I was starting to see while turning over Suzanne’s page….
It was milk crowns on the ground. Those were completely same milk crowns that I thought that these might be painted by me.
What a surprise!
Under the snow, we can see seething with lives which are waiting for Spring.

さらに目を下に移すと地層が変わってゆきます。いつからそこにいるのか動物の骨が静かに眠っていました。
スザンヌは大切な大切な飼い猫Giraを昨年１１月に亡くしているのです。
そう、スザンヌは今は安らかに眠る彼女の猫を書いたのでした。Giraの生きた証として。

And then when I looked below, the stratum is gradually changing.
I don’t know how long it has been there though, animal bones are sleeping stilly.
Suzanne has lost her dear cat Gira last November.
Yes, She peinted her cat who is sleeping in peace now as a tribute.

さらに地層は深くなってゆきます。
描かれる粒々の盛り上がるインクは本物の石の層のようです。
すると見えてくるのはそう、
マントルです！！
赤々と燃え上がる炎はまるで命がほとばしり出ているかのようです。
すぐ上に静かに眠る亡骸とは対照的です。
このマントルは切り絵でできています。
スザンヌの切り絵作品はいつもため息が出るほど美しいのです。
この紙からまるで熱い温度が伝わってくるよう

let’s go much deeper place of stratum,
Granulated inks painted by Suzanne are like a real pebble layer, and gradually fire came into view.
It’s the Mantle!!
Blazing fire is like burst of life.
It is contrast to resting in peace bone just above the fire.
This Mantle mede by paper cutout.
Paper cutout work by Suzanne is always breathtakingly beautiful as ifI can feel the heat of Mantle from this paper.

そして紙に少し厚みを感じます、、、
めくってみるとこの熱いマントル次の私のページにも炎を吹き出していました!
I turned the next blank my page, because I felt the thickness of the paper.
Wow, the fire of the Mantle came up in my page!
さて、次はここに何を描こうかなぁ。(^_-)
Well, I wonder what to draw next… 😉

It was Suzanne’s page which I introduced in my blog “Amsterdam↔Tokyo note project (2)”.
Suzanne redesigned that page much more beautiful!

スザンヌは何年か前にアムステルダムからほど近いハーレムに引っ越したのです。
Suzanne moved Haarlem where is not far from Amsterdam some years ago.

＜and she also put a label titled “Fallen Leaves Autumn 2017 Haarlem”＞

そう、こうしてまた過去のページに手を入れたりできるのもこのノートの楽しみの一つです。
何せ私たちのこのプロジェクトはNo Rule, No Pressureですのでね。
Yes, One of the pleasures of this notebook is adding something newly on forward pages or backward pages freely.
So, in our project, always there is “No Rule” and “No Pressure”.
