Samhain ⇒ Halloween

Halloween has recently gotten popular in Japan.
Now, the city is full of Jack-o’-lanterns all over the place.
Did you know that he origin of Halloween dates back to
the ancient Irish Celts, who celebrated New Year’s Eve on this day?
I mentioned about that this time, because my blog title is “Celtic Forest”!.

(Samhain)

Celtic people called this day “Samhain”.
Samhain was the day which the celebrated Nyew Year’s Eve
as well as mourned for the dead.
Celtic people believed that the gate of the spirit world opened in this day,
so they made a bonfire to ward off evil .
