Kyoto Trip the 2nd day-

<Shoren-in Temple>

On the second day in Kyoto, it had been raining since morning.
We changed our plan, and went around the city center.

First, we went to Shoren-in temple.

http://www.shorenin.com/
http://shorenin.com/english/

<Shoren-in of hushed ambiance>

<There is a “lotus” kanji in the name of Shoren-in>

Shoren-in has the Painting of the Blue Cetaka
(a blue guardian deity) that is one of particularly
well-known deities among the three major Cetakas
in Japan (Blue, Red, and Yellow).
Now, The Blue Cetaka has been specially revealed
to the public after almost 1000 years for the first time
ever in Shoren-in from Sep.18th to Dec.20th.
( The Blue Cetaka was revealed only 3 times in
not-Shoren-in temple ever.)
It’s called the ” gokaicho “( the special exposition)
in Japan.

http://shorenin.com/english/blue_setaka/

<The words from “the blue Cetaka”>

Why is that “Gokaicho” now?
A residential priest said about the reason.
” Now, our world is getting into a muddle because of
the recession. We hope that “the blue Cetaka” will
bring the miracle-working power to the people. ”

You can see “the blue Cetaka” this site.

http://www.shorenin.com/gokaicho/

<Kacho-den>

http://www.shorenin.com/temple/keidai1.html

<The lotus see is spreading in the room>

Those lotus pictures were one of occasions I’m
looking forward to see.
“lotus pictures” which saw with my own eyes were
alive, free, and fun, and those are overwhelming cool.

I didn’t think that this artist is the people of the
present time first. After I was back to Tokyo,
I checked about this artist.
To my surprise, artist was a present parson!

<These are excellent works by Hideki Kimura>

The artist name is Hideki Kimura.

http://www.ki-yan.com/sakuhin.html

He said ” I just want to paint a picture like
a rock (rock’n’ roll) spirit and cool works.”
“I just want to paint pop arts that give off
light in the streets. ”
I felt that his existence itself is so cool.
Please check his another works on his web site!

http://www.ki-yan.com/sakuhin/g5.html

<The view of the garden from “Kacho-den”>

<”the blue Cetaka” over the bamboo blind>

“The blue Cetaka” in the dim room was like a
radiating sacred aura.
I felt that this is a picture though, it’s already
not a picture. This is a real “the blue Cetaka”.
We prayed here for a while.
After that we walked around the garden.

<The water was clear and the carps were beautiful. >

<We met a snail because it rained>

<Trees with atmosphere>

…and Shoren-in has some 800 years old
camphor trees. Those were as if some kind of spirits live in it.

<Camphor tree>

<the view of “Shin-den” through camphor tree>

After that we moved Chion-in next to Shoren-in temple.

http://www.chion-in.or.jp/sansaku/teien.html#a

<Stone stairway of Chion-in getting wet
make a more attractive atmosphere.>

<Chion-in is big structure everything >

Truthfully, we’d like to check about seven wonders
of Chion-in. However, conservation and restoration
have started most constructs in Chion-in.
And so we couldn’t see many wonders almost.
There is a beautiful Japanese garden Though,
The rain got heavier, so we abandoned to walk
around the garden.

http://www.chion-in.or.jp/7hushigi/index.html

We went to “Kennin-ji” by taxi.

<Kennin-ji>

http://www.kenninji.jp/index.php

http://www.kenninji.jp/english/index.html

<Everything is so beautiful at Kennin-ji >

<”the wind and thunder got” of reprica>

We can see the replica of “Fujin and Raijin ”
(The wind and Thunder Gods) Sotatsu Tawaraya painted.
(The real thing are stored at Kyoto National Museum)

http://www.kenninji.jp/gallery/index.html

<the beautiful “karesansui” garden >

Regardless of “the wind and thunder gods”,
Kennin-ji has a wonderful Japanese rock garden
(“karesansui”—- dry garden style).
**A Japanese rock garden or zen garden (Karesansui)
is a kind of Japanese style garden. It expresses the
nature with a rocks and sands.**

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Japanese_rock_garden

We can see “the wind and thunder gods ” through the
karesansui garden.

<The view of another garden from Houjou>

<○△□garden>

After that, we saw “double-headed dragon”drawn
on the ceiling at Hatto.
(You can see that at the gallery of HP.)

<It is pouring at last.>

It’s impossible to move for a while because of
pouring. We had been sitting while gazing at
the “karesansui” ( dry garden style ) for
maybe an hours.
(No, That garden should be called “wet garden
style” already.)

<The rabbit on Fusuma lay with a look of half-surrender.>

We moved to “Shokoku-ji” by taxi.

http://tencoo.fc2web.com/jinja/xshokoku.htm

And we saw “the exhibition Noh costume
made by Yasujiro Yamaguchi “.
He is 105 years old already though, he
continues to weave Noh costume!

http://i-sys.info/serial/interview/11/interview11.html

And, you can watch him who is weaving Noh costumes .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smQOQUdsipw

<Shokokuji also has beautiful gardens.>

After that, we looked around Shokoku-ji.
And we saw “the Roaring dragon” drawn
on the ceiling painted by Mitsunobu Kano in 1605.

http://www.shokoku-ji.or.jp/shokokuji/guide/hatto_banryuzu.html

Then we moved Hosomi museum, so we gave up
to go temples because it rains.

http://www.emuseum.or.jp/index.html
http://www.emuseum.or.jp/eng/index.html

We saw the exhibition titled
“Kiitsu Suzuki virtuoso of Edo Rinpa”.

http://www.emuseum.or.jp/exhibition/index.html

<about Kiitsu Suzuki and Edo Rinpa>
http://www.emuseum.or.jp/eng/exhibition_eng/index.html

His works were great.
However, my battery have run out at last.
I had not eaten anything since breakfast
because we were moving by taxi all day,
so we missed the timing to have a lunch.
Now, evening comes already.
The wall of Hosomi museum had the color
like a rye bread, and smelled like a
honey bread.
I thought that I want to eat…..
I gazed at the museum wall when I realized .
This is my first experience I want to eat the wall
of course!
I just couldn’t focus in front of great art works.
And we left the museum before I’ve bitten the wall.

Today, It has been raining all day.
